Scones – The Perfect Holiday Breakfast

Scones – The Perfect Holiday Breakfast

The scone is the iconic, easy-to-make, tender pastry of British tea time, and it's at its best fresh.

Ingredients

For the dough

Czelli All-Purpose Flour 250 g
Cold, cubed butter 85 g
Baking powder 1 tsp
Powdered sugar, sifted 2 tbsp
Whole egg 1
Milk 3 tbsp
Salt a large pinch
Chopped chocolate 80 g

For brushing

Milk 2–3 tbsp

Instructions

1. Rub the flour — sifted with the baking powder, salt, and powdered sugar — together with the cold butter until crumbly.

2. Mix the egg with the milk and work it in with quick movements, then stir in the chocolate.

3. Wrap it in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for about 2 hours.

4. Then roll it out about a thumb's width thick on a floured surface and cut out rounds with a biscuit cutter.

5. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with milk, and bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C (350 °F) for about 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
